Your disability insurance covers you if you contract COVID-19, just like any other illness, subject to the terms of your contract.

You’ll be entitled to receive benefits if you remain disabled at the end of your coverage’s waiting period. Note that we do not pay benefits retroactively to cover the waiting period.

You're eligible to have your insurance costs waived for up to 5 months if:

• You lost your full-time job (minimum 20 hours per week) at least 30 days ago
• You held that job for at least 4 months
• You were making federal Employment Insurance (EI) contributions and you qualify for EI benefits

You're not eligible if:

• You had a seasonal, contract or temporary job
• You left your job voluntarily
• You're 60 or older
