February is Heart Month

As a proud partner of the Heart & Stroke, Desjardins Insurance is helping to improve the health and well-being of thousands of people in communities across the country.

We are excited to share details about Heart & Stroke’s upcoming national campaign, Heart Month, which rallies people from coast to coast to coast in raising awareness and funds that have an enormous impact on the lives of all Canadians.

Every seven minutes1 someone in Canada dies from heart disease or stroke. It can happen in an instant or over time, striking indiscriminately and forever altering everyone it touches.

Research breakthroughs will change these statistics and protect the precious life moments we all want to experience. Through the generosity of thousands of donors and volunteers, Heart & Stroke is raising the critical dollars that will fund those breakthroughs.

Heart Month is when it all comes together:

  • An estimated 90,000 Heart & Stroke Canvass volunteers are fanning out across their neighbourhoods and their online networks to raise funds and awareness.
  • As they knock on doors and send emails, they’re sharing health information and encouraging Canadians to assess their risk of heart disease and stroke using the Heart & Stroke Risk Assessment.
  • The annual Heart & Stroke Report on the Health of Canadians releases Feb. 1 to shine a spotlight on a critical issue affecting the future of heart health in Canada. See the report at heartandstroke.ca/heartreport.
  • Throughout the month and any time, visit heartandstroke.ca to find information, tools, recipes and more to help you understand your individual risk factors for heart disease and stroke, and start making changes.
  • To donate to Heart & Stroke, visit heartandstroke.ca or call 1-877-882-2582 This link will launch your default phone software..
