I've been living in Toronto since 2012 with my wife Anita. Four years after we got married here, we decided to expand our family, and we were blessed in 2006 with a son. His name is Christopher.

One of the first things I did as a father, we got him a critical illness for children coverage.

We were happy that we did that because a year later, he was diagnosed with autism.

As a parent, I always wanted to do the best for my—for all of our children. I can't imagine if I didn't have this financial strength.
The specialized classes that we enrol Christopher in really help him improve as a person.

He's much more advanced right now in [his] communication with us. He can request stuff right now. Prior to that, it was a guessing game, what he wanted.

Those classes are very, very expensive. And the last thing you should worry about is your finances. However, we do know that there will be [a] rainbow at the end of our journey.

Desjardins really empowered us to actually have more options [of] his specialized classes. It gave me the financial strength, and it gave me an option [of] what I can do as a parent.

You want to be there every single day for your child to be better, and I really, really hope he is happy.
